What is Pencak Silat?

Pencak Silat is an acient martial art originating from Indonesia. The origin of silat dates back to the 6th century AD and is now practiced in over 35 countires World Wide.

 

Pencak silat is practiced as self defence, an art and even as a sport.

 

Whether your interest is in self defence, the artistic side, or have you have more of a competitive nature and want to boost your fitness, Silat is a unique Martial art which encompassess all three aspects.

 

Come along to one of our classes to experience the way of Pencak Silat.

 

 

Silat - Childrens Classes

Children are introduced to the martial arts in a fun and safe environment. With the classes promoting confidence, discipline and respect.
Children will practice self defence techniques through forms, Rolling and falling techniques, how to escape from being grabbed and fun games to improve their fitness.

 

Currently our childrens classes will run for 10 week terms, however we require a minimum of 10 students before we commence the term.

 


Silat - Adult Classes

Students will be introduced to the way of martial arts through Pencak Silat.

 

This involves training the Mind, Body and Spirit through exercise, philosophy and meditation.

Training drills will cover; Foot work, Grappling, Throwing, Locking, Tackling, Sparring, Multiple attack defence, Traditional Weapons, Unarmed weapon defence, freestyle fighting, Breathing excercises and meditation.
